Ooty Lake has emerged as one of the foremost tourist attractions of Ooty in recent years. This is an artificial lake built by John Sullivan, the first District Collector of Udhagamandalam created this lake in the year 1827. The lake has an irregular L shape and stretches for more than 2 km in length. The width of the lake varies at regular intervals.
The Lake and the Boat House has been the major entertainment hub for the large number of tourists who flock to this beautiful hill station all throughout the year and particularly in the summer months. You have wide variety to choose from as far as boating is concerned. There are motor boats, pedal boats and rowing boats. You will also spot a deer park as you ride along the waters. Next to the lake there is a Mini Garden with an amusement park for children and a toy train.
