Dodda Alada Mara or Big banyan Tree in English is a popular tourist destination. It is over 400 years old big Banyan tree covering around 3 acres of land. This tree is one of the biggest banyan tree in Asia. It is in a village called Ramohalli about 6-7 km on the road that links Mysore Road with Magadi Road. The entire tree is fenced in and you enter through a gate. A friendly guide leads you around and provides useful information, for a fee of course. Most of the trunks and branches have been vandalised with an old watchman not being able to do much.
