Sankey Tank a manmade lake or tank is situated in the western part of the city in the middle of the suburbs of Malleshwaram, Vyalikaval and Sadashiva Nagar, this is one of the State Government protected lakes. The lake covers an area of about 37.1 acres.

Both tourists and residents of Bangalore, especially people from the sorrounding localities of Malleshwaram, Sadashivanagar, and Vyali Kaval, find this a serene and scenic place to visit. One of the major attraction here is the boating facility available. While the gardens sorrounding the tank are under the direct purview of the Horticulture Department, the Lake itself is being taken care of by the Department of Tourism, Karnataka.
